First Annual MRHT Fall Retreat —

September 27, 2009 — What do you get when you combine pristine country, great instruction, terrific food, horse friends and campfire s'mores? The perfect weekend away is what!

We just returned from the first annual fall retreat held in the lovely Larkspur, CO. We were graciously welcomed by the ultimate host and hostess, Jeff and Gerrie Barnes of Barnes Ranch. They served as our steadfast trail guides Friday evening, taking us through some of the most expansive and untouched terrain these cowgirls have laid eyes on. What beauty! Our already marvelous day was then brought to a close with a hearty cookout meal, made complete with campfire songs and s'mores. The perfect day with the perfect ending is all I could think as we retired for the night, right next to our horses.

The next morning we traveled to the lovely 8th Heaven Farms to ride on the greatly talked about and highly anticipated Trusting Partners course with Roger Kyle. This course is the ultimate in creativity! It is designed to appropriately challenge horse and rider with various obstacles as they increase their trust and confidence in one another. The MRHT group rode like champions, confidently and fluidly steering their mounts throw the 50+ obstacles.

All in all, it was a fantastic getaway - - fun, relaxation and one of a kind learning opportunities. Stay tuned for dates and more information about the 2010 fall getaway on the MRHT Calendar.
